Playa de las Américas

After our trip to Tenerife in 1994, we didn't really visit the Isle again so soon, but being accompanied by our friends Uli and Uwe (called:"zwah Blühdn" = two blooms) we expected interesting holidays. This time we chose the **** Hotel Bougainville Playa only 800m distant from the centre and what was pretty good. The closest beach was the Playa del Bobo. It had many big stones inside the flat water and so we always went to the Playa de Troya.

The welcome-cocktail was given to us in our hotel, this time and so we met with some other tourists. It was really worth it, because we met two very nice and beautiful girls from Düsseldorf. From this day our friend could relax without us and we tried to impress the girls with our experience of Tenerife. Well I think we didn't do so much bragging and the girls accompanied us on our trips across the Island, to the beach and to the nightlife. This time we had big problems to get our breakfast in time (til 10 o'clock).

The Cañadas del Teide

Because the report of 1994 was already full of photos, all photos of the Teide will appear in this report. Of course we went to the mountains called Cañadas del Teide with the girls. The Teide has got a height of 3,718 m is situated in a former volcano and is the highest peak of Spain.

Of course we saw something more of this Island, for example the famous "Mythological Dragon Tree" in Icod de los Vinos, which seems to be some thousand years old, and which was difficult to find and rather withered up.

Another time we went to the Northwestcoast near Taganana

We saw the pretty botanical garden in Puerto de la Cruz

Even more..

Who doesn't want to have to much trouble in the South of the Isle may visit the more natural and nicer village Los Cristianos, that's situated next to Playa de las Américas. Ther you can althought take the ferry to La Gomera that could be seen from Tenerife if you got a good sight.

... and finally our alltime companions

Finally some informations. There are lots of young people trying to sell you an apartment by Time-Sharing. You get some lottery tickets, you win a trip to anywhere and then they try to sell you something. Keep off from this. The people in the streets of Playa de las Américas who work for discos and pubs are really sinewy. Thea are nearly all English. You won't have any problems being understood in English. What I liked very much was the adventure-minigolf in Playa de las Américas (expensive but good).

In all I like the Island very much. Of course it's not like a Caribbean one, but there are interesting things for everyone.

Many thanks to Beate and Katja, for standing to us so brave
(in spite of the baby-dinos). You've been the best part of our holidays.
